Production of the Chengdu F-7, a license-built of the MiG-21, began in 1964.  Although capable of carrying modern air-to-air missiles, the Vietnam era F-7 is no match for modern fighter aircraft.   However, the F-7 is still capable of its original ground attack role with a very limited payload of bombs and/or rockets.
